3 Chic Bridesmaids Trends

Lately everything in my head is weddings. Watching “Say Yes to the Dress” used to be a beloved pastime, now it sends me into a petrified stupor. I think I am getting married…a year goes by so fast…will everything get done…where do I begin?! Then panic sets in and fear, followed by anxiety. So the other night after a glass of wine or three I decided to calm down and go with the flow. It will all fall into place. Now I am not all wedding stuff all the time, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t still wake up every night in a cold sweat after having a wedding nightmare where no one showed up like my third grade birthday party.

In honor of my wedding wackiness I am celebrating with tons of wedding related posts from now until that big (God willing non-nightmarish) day.

Here are some bridesmaids trends I am loving at the moment.

1. Alternating Dress Color.

Now I am not a big fan of the “everyone pick your own dress as long as it is this color” trend. It is distracting when you see a hodgepodge of dresses standing next to the bride. I also don’t like the “same dress in every color under the rainbow” idea that is also sweeping the nation. Again it is distracting to see all the guys matching and then the bridesmaids are a bag of skittles.  But I do love, the very well done, very tasteful, slight alteration between an even number of bridesmaids.

2. Flower Crowns

I LOVE flower crows. Maybe it’s the California peace and love hippie in me or the fact that when I was a kid I would sit with my friends and make flower crowns with the wildflowers but I just love them. I will most likely have one for the reception and I love the idea of bringing your lovely friends in on all the magical flower goodness. It is also reminiscent of an English countryside wedding with traditional children bridesmaids like Kate Moss’s wedding.

3. Milkmaid Braids

This is so much fun! I got the idea from Ashley Tisdale and I just think it is so pretty. Just realize that styling everyone’s hair is going to cost you, so if you have 12 bridesmaids and are on a budget, this may not be the way to go.
