I can’t believe it has been 3 whole months since I have posted! So much has happened in that time and I feel like I have finally gotten my bearings and can now focus on United States of Chic and an exciting 2015.
The last time I posted a blog, I lived in Dallas, I was in-between careers and I hadn’t gotten anywhere in my wedding planning.
We have since moved to San Francisco, I started working at Minted, we adopted a kitten and we have almost all our major vendors booked! So much change was a lot to handle at first and I felt humbled in a lot of ways. To be lucky enough to both find new careers, to be able to afford one of the most expensive cities and to be able to start a new adventure with my best friend was such a blessing. My life since graduating college has been a non-stop adventure. I have lived so many places, seen and done so many things, and gained so much real-world experience. I feel so lucky.
Here is the gist of my much needed life update. We finally get to live in California! It has always been my dream to live and work in my home state with Tommy and we couldn’t be happier. This city has a pulse of electricity running though it. There are so many interesting things to see and do and eat. There are interesting people on every corner and real culture. We have already made many new friends and are lucky enough to already have some friends out here. I also love living so close to my family! I’ve already driven down to see them twice and we hosted them hear for thanksgiving. It means so much to me to be near them and finally getting to live close after so many years apart has been my greatest joy since moving.
On to the basics…
Our apartment is amazing. It’s bright and airy and cozy. We have an entire wall of windows facing east and the way the light comes in every morning when I sit and reflect with coffee in hand makes my heart so happy. We have gorgeous views of the twin peaks, Golden Gate Park and the sunset district. We are a block away from Golden Gate Park and two miles from the beach. Our building was built in the 30s and has so much charm but our apartment is completely redone- the kitchen has all stainless steel appliances, quartz counters, new cabinets and a gorgeous white marble back-splash. The bathroom is also completely redone and is clean and modern.Even though it’s smaller than our Dallas apartment, we were able to somehow to squeeze all our furniture in. I definitely miss having a dishwasher and I’m still getting used to life with hardwood floors but I can’t complain, our new home is breathtaking.
We can walk downstairs and pretty much do anything. Our neighbor is quaint enough to be a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of the financial district where we both work, but also has plenty of cute coffee shops, bars, restaurants and boutiques.
Life is pretty busy here. We both work long hours but I manage to get all my wedding planning done on my lunch breaks and during the weekends.
It started out rough but lately everything has fallen into place. Our venue in Healdsburg- just outside of Sonoma and is so beautiful that on the drive up through the mountains and over the river, I started tearing up because I knew it was the place we would get married. I pictured our guests following the same path through the forest and I just knew. Aside from our venue, we have our officiant, our photographer, our DJ and our florist booked and we’ve also bought our save-the-dates and invitations (Minted designs of course ;)) and now we are in the process of trying out caterers. But now that the major things are taken care of and I can breathe, my big to-do is finding my dress. I’m driving down to LA next weekend for two bridal boutique appointments in Beverly Hills including one at BHLDN. I am unbelievably excited to find my dress and share the day with my family and my bridesmaids and maybe sip a little champagne.
So that is about it. I hope you are all having a happy and productive start to the new year!
Stay tuned for many exciting content! I have a lot in store for USoC in 2015 that I can’t wait to share. First up is an upcoming post featuring an apartment tour and a more in-depth glimpse into how my wedding is coming together.
In the meantime here are some pictures of our new home.
Cheers!
