5 Ways To Keep Prevent Dry Skin This Winter

I love winter! It’s the one time of year you can cuddle up with some wine and a good book by the fire. But winter also has its downside such as the months after Christmas and before spring, the cold place in between your warm bed and hot shower and of course dry skin! The cold air outside and the warm heated air inside as well as warmer showers make for some serious skin issues. Here are a few tips to keep your skin happy and moisturized during those chilly winter days.

  1. Exfoliate

Removing dead skin in the winter is a must so that your skin can drink up your moisturizer. You can exfoliate your face with a good apricot scrub like this or making your own using coconut oil and baking soda. Exfoliate your body using a dry brush.

2.  In Shower Lotion

In the winter your skin needs all the moisture it can get and I am currently loving these new in shower lotions that you apply and rise off in the shower. They leave your skin feeling so smooth and nourished!

3. Ditch your regular moisturizer for a more intense one.

I love using Clinque’s moisture surge in winter before I go to bed. I wake up with ultra hydrated, soft skin! For soft feet, try rubbing feet with lotion and putting these moisture socks.

4. Try a Mask

I love doing a charcoal or avocado mask in winter with some cucumber eye pads. They leave your skin feeling soft and supple and can really sooth dry, chapped skin.

5. Moisturize from the Inside Out

A lot of times dry, chapped skin or lips are caused by dehydration. Be sure to drink plenty of water in the winter to keep your skin moisturized from within!
